Usage Reports – mxHero Help Center

Reports › Usage Reports shows how much work mxHERO does for your organization: emails processed by rules, files uploaded to storage, and mail volume through mxHERO, for the last 30, 60 or 90 days. Use it to confirm adoption, size your storage, and report results to management.

Before you begin

You need an Owner or Administrator role in the Admin Dashboard.
Figures are counts only. To find individual emails, use Email Flow Logs.
All dates are in UTC. Figures are updated every hour.

Open the report

Open Reports › Usage Reports.
Under Filter by days, choose 30, 60 or 90 to set the period shown in the charts. The page opens on 90.

Note: The subtitle under the page title reads "Last 30 days" whichever period you choose. The summary cards always cover the last 30 days; the charts follow Filter by days.

Summary cards

Card	Shows
Processed Emails	Rule executions: each time a rule acted on an email, including mailbox rules
Uploaded Amount	Total size of files uploaded to cloud storage
Email Flow Emails	Emails that passed through mxHERO by mail routing
Email Accounts	Email accounts in Settings › Accounts and Groups
Email Groups	Groups in Settings › Accounts and Groups

The badge on the first three cards (for example +12%) compares the last 30 days with the 30 days before.

Processed Emails

A daily line chart of rule executions. Use Filter by type:

All: one line for all rules.
Action: one line per action, for example Protect Attachments, Copy Emails, Temporary Hold.
Target: one line per target: Email Flow, Forwarding Address, User Mailboxes, Storage Webhook (Drag and Drop).

Get the figures by email

Turn on Monthly usage report in Settings › Notifications to receive a summary of the previous month on the 1st of each month. See Notification Settings.

Reading the figures

One email can count several times in Processed Emails. If two rules act on the same email, each execution counts.
Processed Emails and Email Flow Emails differ. Email Flow Emails counts mail through routing whether or not a rule acted on it. Processed Emails counts rule actions, including mailbox and Drag and Drop rules, which aren't in Email Flow Emails.
Uploaded Amount is the size mxHERO uploaded. Your storage provider may show a different total if it deduplicates, versions or compresses files.
Figures cover about a year. Usage statistics are kept for about 12 months; the report shows at most 90 days.

Troubleshooting

Symptom	Cause	Fix
Charts are flat or empty	No rules acted in the period, or routing isn't active	Check that rules are enabled and that mail reaches mxHERO. See Testing Mail Flow.
Today's figures look low	Figures are updated hourly, in UTC	Check again later, or look at complete days.
The badge shows +100%	There was little or no activity in the previous 30 days	Expected for new deployments.
Email Flow Emails is zero but Processed Emails isn't	Only mailbox or Drag and Drop rules are in use	Expected. Email Flow Emails counts only mail routed through mxHERO.
